truth of the Resurrection

And so too we rejoice today - on a day of great celebration that a tomb that sits unused -abandoned- that death no longer has any eternal power over us either! Jesus made sure thatpeople would know the truth of the Resurrection. Through the disciples He made sure thatthe truth would be fully documented for all time - for all people, for you and me; that wemight regularly, annually, be reassured that not only did Jesus die on the cross, not only didHe rise from the dead, not only did He ascend into heaven, but He won the victory over sin,He buried our sins in the tomb.On this blessed Resurrection morning, we gather to remember what the Lord has done for us.With His dying and rising we are set free from the condemnation of the Law - we are reunitedwith the Father in heaven, we have Christ's recurring affirmation that He will take us to bewith Him forever. So it is that we should on this day and every day that we are blessed to havebreath, believe, never doubting, that Christ has risen from the dead. What God say He will do,He does. But as vitally important as the events of this day is, as powerful as the truth of Christ'sResurrection is for eternity - most will soon put this day and the defining fulfillment of God'sperfect plan to free us from the bonds of death behind them. Many will neatly fold this dayand put it on the back burner of life. Some will go back to their lives outside of the house ofGod, back to an almost ignorant comprehension of what God has done for them, and whatGod continues to do for all mankind. Many, instead of bowing their heads in deep humility with repentant hearts, will find excusesnot to follow where God leads them, until Christmas or until this "annual" remembrance nextEaster. When you walk out of God's house this morning and go to your family outings andenjoy the gifts from God that grace you this and every day, believe this...hold this truth nearand dear to your heart; share it regularly with others: We do not worship a dead Savior. He isRisen. We have His assurance that all is accomplished, all is finished, we are set free from thetreacherous grip of Satan, the horror of eternal death. Your future in secure in Him. Amen.
